Staying safe on Jaano

A few habits keep you protected. Trust is everything in a marketplace.

Inspect before you pay

Never send mobile money to ‘reserve’ an item before you have seen it. Genuine sellers expect you to view first.

Meet in public

For goods, meet at a busy, well-lit place. For property and vehicles, view at the location with someone you trust.

Agree deposits clearly

For car, equipment and short-let hire, agree any refundable security deposit and return conditions with the owner in writing (in-app chat) before collection.

Check verification badges

Prefer sellers with a ‘Verified ID’ (Ghana Card) or ‘Business’ badge. They have confirmed their identity.

Keep chat on-platform

Use in-app chat or the WhatsApp button. Be cautious if a seller rushes you off-platform or pressures urgent payment.

Report anything suspicious

Too-good-to-be-true prices, requests for upfront fees, or fake agents — report the listing and we’ll act.
