Who we are
Jaano is the data controller for personal data processed on this platform. We are (or will be) registered with the Data Protection Commission of Ghana.
What we collect
Account details (name, phone, optional email), listings you post, messages, bookings and payments, and limited device/usage data. For the optional ‘Verified ID’ badge we verify your Ghana Card via a licensed provider and store only a verification token — never your card image or number.
Why we use it
To run the marketplace: publish your ads, connect buyers and sellers, process MoMo payments, prevent fraud, and improve the service. Lawful bases include your consent, performance of a contract, and our legitimate interest in keeping the platform safe.
Sharing
We share data with payment, SMS, identity-verification and hosting providers strictly to deliver the service. We do not sell your personal data.
Data minimisation & retention
We keep data only as long as needed. Verification artefacts are purged once your badge is granted. Photos are stripped of GPS/EXIF metadata on upload to protect your location.
Your rights
You may access, correct, or delete your data, object to processing, and withdraw consent. Contact admin@jaanogh.com. You may also complain to the Data Protection Commission.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and sensitive fields at rest. Access is logged and least-privilege.
